The die cast aluminium has a heat resistant coating, and the inner has a tough 2-layer non-stick coating which helps to prevent your toasted sandwiches getting stuck. The handle is made from Anti-scald bakelite, and both these are held together with a tough metal clip. The rivets on the handle and the hinges are made from tough stainless steel.
